Overview
If you serve on the front lines of disaster response as staff or a volunteer you may be eligible for scholarship support to pursue certification.
The Chrysalis Alliance exists to expand access to field-ready, trauma-informed tools that strengthen the people and organizations serving communities in crisis.

The Chrysalis Alliance Inc. is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit governed by its Board of Directors.
Who This Is For
Scholarship support is intended for individuals who:
- Work or volunteer with a disaster-response or recovery organization
- Serve in high-impact roles with regular exposure to crisis, loss, and operational stress
- Can commit to completing the certification requirements
Who serve as :
- Front line responders
- Case managers / recovery navigators
- Operations and logistics staff
- Team leads and supervisors
- Chaplains / spiritual care providers
- Behavioral health support roles (non-clinical and clinical, within scope)
What Scholarship Support Can Cover
Scholarship support is designed to fund one person to complete the pathway to become a Certified Trauma Recovery Practitioner®.
Depending on available funding, a scholarship may cover:
- One certification seat for the approved applicant
- Required training materials included with that seat
- Practice tools and implementation resources needed to apply the methods in real-world service settings
Scholarships do not typically cover travel, lodging, or unrelated professional expenses unless explicitly stated in the award (most certification training is delivered virtually).
Step-by-Step:
How The Scholarship Process Works
Step 1: Submit Your Request
Complete the Scholarship Support Request form with:
Your role and organization
Your service context (staff/volunteer, deployment exposure, responsibilities)
Your readiness and availability to complete the training
Step 2: Eligibility Review
We review requests for:
Mission alignment (disaster-response context)
Capacity to participate and complete requirements
Fit for the cohort model and ethical scope
Step 3: Follow-Up (If Needed)
If we need more information, we may request:
A brief call
A letter of support from your organization
Confirmation of your role and service context
Step 4: Scholarship Decision
You’ll receive one of the following outcomes:
Approved (full scholarship)
Waitlisted (pending funding)
Not approved (with a recommended next step, when possible)
Step 5: Enrollment and Onboarding
If approved, you’ll receive:
Enrollment instructions
Cohort schedule and participation expectations
Step 6: Completion and Certification
You’ll complete the cohort-based experience and certification requirements. We track progress to ensure scholarship funds are used responsibly.
